Levitra (Vardenafil) is an impotence drug that treats male
erectile dysfunction (ED). Levitra acts in the same way as
Viagra, by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5,
or PDE-5. This helps the smooth muscles in the penis to relax,
which effectively increases blood flow. This allows the user to
achieve an erection and to maintain a harder erection long enough to have sex.
Users of nitrate drugs, often used to control chest pain (angina), should not take Levitra.

Uses of Levitra (Vardenafil HCl)
Levitra is a PDE5 inhibitor, which blocks the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5, or PDE-5, this increases blood flow into the penis. Levitra, Vardenafil HCL is used to treat sexual function
problems such as impotence or erectile dysfunction (ED).
The increased blood flow to the penis helps the user achieve and maintain an erection
long enough to complete sex (penile rigidity and tumescence.)

How to use Levitra
The starting dose of Levitra is 10 mg and should be taken at least 24 hours apart.
Lower doses may be indicated for patients taking alpha blockers, medications such as
ritonavir, indinavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole, and erythromycin, also the usual 24 hour
time between doses of Levitra may need to be extended.

Side effects of Levitra
Common side effects that may occur include headache, flushing, stomach upset or nausea,
heartburn, stuffy or runny nose, diarrhea, dizziness, or lightheadedness.
Other less common side effects include vision changes such as increased sensitivity to light,
blurred vision, or impaired blue/green color discrimination.  If an erection lasts more than
4 hours and will not go away (priapism), seek medical help immediately. Priapism must be
treated quickly or lasting penis damage can occur including the inability to have erections

Precautions and Warnings about Levitra
Users of nitrate drugs, often used to control chest pain (angina), should not take Levitra.
Heart Medications called nitrates include nitroglycerin that is found in tablets, sprays,
ointments, pastes, or patches. Nitrates are found in other drugs such as isosorbide
dinitrate or isosorbide mononitrate. IMPORTANT even if you do not take heart or angina
medications containing nitrates, there are some recreational drugs called poppers which
contain nitrates, for example amyl-nitrate and butyl-nitrate. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit
juice which can interact with Levitra and produce unwanted or dangerous side effects.
